Only one problem.... We have to rely on the terrorists to strike at only one place. There is only one Harvey's Radio War Wagon. You will probably not see it outside of the urban terrorism initiative areas.... and for some good reasons as well as for the usual political platitudes now in vogue at Division Headquarters. :?

Harveys Radio War Wagon? hahahaha Sounds like something out of Kelly's Heroes.

Im guessing that this Interoperability Scheme is not a set of frequencies that every town will be issued, its just what we really need, another COMMAND CENTER on wheels? I think cleaning up SPEN would be a step twards better inter angency comms, make every dispatcher who plays full mettle jacket clips over the State Police Entertainment Network accountable, and people will actualy leave the volume turned up.

So long as the Department of Homeland Security keeps sending those weekly 55 gallon drums of hundred dollar bills to Pete Harvey and Ricky Fuentes, some of it will be used for new toys to show off. The Motorola sales people for NJ are all driving top of the line Mercedes, complete with solid gold hubcaps, buckets of champagne, and hookers in the back seat with all the business that is being thrown their way. Lo - the poor flunky local road toad agencies get the scraps of the meat that is being devoured at state agencies. :p

Hi all,

"Harveys Radio War Wagon? hahahaha Sounds like something out of Kelly's Heroes."

No, try the John Wayne movie The War Wagon. Too bad he didn't have radios in it or it would have been a comedy. Just think, when the terrorists from outer space strike it will be good old fashioned Morse code and those Mucusroller radios sitting there useless. I wonder if they'll get them from Harvey Radio? (Those who remember will get the joke.)

"I've GOT to git me one of THESE!"

How well I remember Harvey Radio. As a kid, a couple of fellow novice operators and I would jump on the bus from Northern Jersey and take the A train down to Canal Street - what was known as Radio Row! Got screwed by Harvey Radio on a trade in and my dad was royally pissed. That's especially not good since he was a juvenile cop in town at the time. Remembered he made a phone call to a friend in NYPD and we took everything back to reverse the trade - in front of the resident detective from the precinct. Oh well, I was only 14 at the time. 8)

Hi Bruce and readers,

I'll go you one better transportation wise, I took the Central Railroad out of Roselle and the CNJ ferry across to the mercantile district just to drool on all the surplus radio stuff littering the sidewalks. Mommy won't allow so my SWLing was limited to an AM/SW radio chassis pulled from an old TV console. Then I took the South Ferry to visit friends on Staten Island, old enough to travel but still had to keep my room clean. (;->)

Now if that grown up 14 year old kid remembers, what was along the left wall as you come in the door to Harvey Radio? I'll give you a clue, I'm not the only ham who moistened the display.
