NJSP Troop B is testing patching over to Warren County VHF Police this afternoon. They have been testing on WC PDCENTRAL & TAC-1. Not sure what the NJSP is on, either B2-3, B2-8 or B2-9 (listening to this on my live feed).

a very credible source tells me (lol) That they are going to be using B2-9 as the patch channel. At this time any radio channel that Warren County Comm Center has in their Consoles which is everything but ground fire & ems op channels and the local PD channel 7's they can patch to ANY Troop B channel but will ONLY use B2-9. This was something that was being talked about back when I worked at WC 911. I think what finally got everything done is the fact that the Public Safety Director (PSD) Is Dave Gallant a retired Trooper and the incident a few months ago in Blairstown with the hostage/barricaded suspect. For the 2 years I worked at WC 911 there was an 800 mhz trunked radio at the Supervisor's console that only had like 5 TG's in it. The only one we could have used to talk to ODU North (Totowa) was Statecom where they talk to NJDOT at times. This is going to be a great thing for Warren County if used properly.

Thanks for your NJSP link and your state and county guides.
Of all the online scanners, I cannot understand why there aren't more of the NJSP.

I have a question:
I do not understand the "zones".
I have located lists of the zones themselves, but do not understand WHY they exist.

The trooper identifies his zone and THEN his location.
Is this redundant?
Do the zones exist for judicial reasons, jurisdictional reasons or other.

Thank you again, sir.

The reason they give a ZONE is for the CAD. That way the dispatcher doesnt have to
type the town and county in manually. They dont have a zone number for everywhere
just basically the high traffic areas. As for why there arent more online scanners for NJSP i dunno honestly.. lol.. Maybe cause people dont like to stream trunked systems? hhmm..

I actually have been running some of Troop A and C ID's on teamspeak when I'm away from home. It works quite well. I'm going to set it up more perminate on another computer in the near future and share.

Hey John

Is the NJSP side of your online scanner working?
I just listened for 45 minutes and heard nothing from the right side of the computer.

Thanks

Dic

I've been messing around with the feed radio's the last few days. I'm hoping to have things back to normal very soon. During working hours for the next few days, I'm putting my BC396 online as the feed radio.

Sure, I'll add Jersey City right after my 200 foot tower gets installed.

Maybe I'll start taking requests when the new scanner gets here.

Like stated elsewhere, 'zones' exist for the cad and allow the dispatcher to use a 1 or 2 digit code rather than type in a municipality and county. The trooper will then give his location so that dispatch and the other troopers know where he is located within that municipality (could be the interstate or local roads within the town where the NJSP provide general police services).
On some stops, you may hear the trooper call in the stop with something like "123 stopping, no zone" and after the dispatcher responds, give the town name and location of the stop. This usually occurs when 1) a trooper is passing through an area the he is not assigned to patrol as part of his regular duties or 2) it is an overtime detail and the patrol is supplementing the regular patrols (dwi, radar/laser speed details, construction site safety, etc).
Rumor has it that the NJSP cad system will be changed to allow station cars to just give a milepost when stopping within their assigned patrol areas on the interstate without a zone, but its just one of many rumors in the NJSP.
