if the Internets are to be believed, the NJSP might be running WatchGuard a/v recording solutions for their evidence gathering system

can anyone confirm this?

has anyone used "close capture" type scanner functions to pick up the mic signal? (looks like it is fhss so listening is a different question--just go with detection)

anyone know what the njsp protocol for using this gear is? it is running nonstop, dormant til a take down, ... ?

I know the ones used here and surrounding areas across country in southwest can be running or switched off by user. Some have settings where they can be ran certain ways. Typically the audio is controlled by user usually always on when interacting with public. Newer systems use ranges in the ghz and offer security features. Higher your willing to pay better the perks. Majority of modern dash cam equipment is audio video combined. Unless your running a old ancient eye witness or customs system.

The camera is activated when the overhead emergency lights are activated. However it is recording on a timed loop so when they lights are activated, the tape actually logs the recording from a predetermined time in the past. The exact time I will not discuss as that is OPSEC. Camera can be turned off manually for things like construction details when lights are activated to not eat away at the memory. The mic pack activates with the lights and can also be shut off manually, but you better have a good reason to explain to the Sergeant as to why it's shut off on a stop.
