Some of the NJUTAC frequencies are being used at the Bamboozle Festival in Asbury Park this weekend, but with different tones than those listed for them in the database here. For example:
NJUTAC 6 (472,8750) Listed tone PL 192.8 Tone being used PL 203.5
NJUTAC 27 (500.5625) Listed tone PL 127.3 Tone being used PL 100.0
Those are the only two confirmed by pdfdems286 on another thread about the festival.
I can't get any of them here in Brick, either because they're being used simplex or the repeaters , if any, aren't putting out enough power for me to receive them, so I can't confirm any others.

With that said, my question is what purpose do the tones listed in the DB here serve if agencies are using different ones? If we have them programmed with the listed tones, there's a good chance we may not hear anything on them if they're being used.

Does anyone have any input about this? Thanks.

Spitballing here -- maybe they set up different repeaters with different tones for this event, so that they're not keying up the whole wide-area network for the geographically-limited event? If that is the purpose they could have changed the input PL and left the output the same, so maybe it's something else.

I thought the exact same thing yesterday. So I programmed every thing in as CSQ/Search. Problem solved.

when i'm in the inciipient stage of listening to an event, especially one's using new frequencies <to me> , i alway's setup for tone search. too many variable's. i did hear a unit calling another unit. somebody said that the unit was getting his radio programmed. a few time's i got left in the dark because the tone was incorrect.

UTAC6 is the only channel that is "re-used" North & South. All the others use only the tones specified throughout the region or state.
