I plan n mounting a Maxrad 5/8 wave base loaded antenna to my boat using an NMO mount. The boats console is aluminum but carpeted and connected to the hull (also aluminum). If I attach the NMO mount to a stainless steel bracket and screw the bracket to the carpeted aluminum console will there be sufficient ground to the boat? Don't want to remove carpet but by removing a small piece under the stainless mount would that be significant improvement or negligible? Thanks
