• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

What's a good nmo hood mount for a '24 Trailblazer?

I'm not keen at this moment about drilling a hole for the roof, and for now I'm gonna stay away from the magnet mount even though I have that readily available. I have a great nmo antenna to use, just need a proper mount for the antenna.

My only other option is something simple to put an nmo mount on the side of the hood. What's some good options?

Mounting off the fender will make the antenna directional away from the body. Also having it down below the roof line results in some shielding. Not ideal for good performance. Permanent NMO on the roof will outperform it. Mag mount on the roof will out perform it.

But if you are really reluctant to do the permanent mount, there are 90º NMO brackets that will do what you want.

My only other option is something simple to put an nmo mount on the side of the hood. What's some good options?

I found the Laird trunk lip mount to be very high quality and strong and I use two on my Jeep hood. Others have used a Midland brand on the same vehicle and reported problems. The Laird comes in chrome or black and you can sometimes find them new on eBay for around $20. Here is a black one on my Jeep.

I just went and checked on my hood and there doesn't seem to be a good spot even for one of those types of mounts.

My only other compromise at this time seems to be one of the spectrum force wideband magnet mount antennas. It fits just perfect at the corner of the window/hood area and the coax is small enough to come through properly. I've used this before and surprisingly works quite well for the size.

My next question is, where can I get one? Amazon doesn't seem to have them right now and ScannerMaster costs way too much to ship them to Canada. The ones I do have seem to have a short somewhere in the coax near the base of the antenna.

The Bingfu ones on Amazon are only 12 inches in length, the SpectrumForce is 17 inches. I believe TRAM also makes one of these comparable to the SpectrumForce also, but can't find them either.
