I recently purchased a groove mount with a 3/4" hole. Is the mounting assembly on the coax supposed to fit through the hole on the groove mount? My mount doesn't fit through the hole on the groove mount. The instructions say to feed the coax through the hole but when it gets to the mounting assembly I'm not sure if it rests on top or is supposed to fit snug in the hole. The mounting assembly says it's for a 3/4" hole. Thanks for the help.

You are over thinking it, here is what is should look like when your done
nmo1.jpg

The brass nut goes on top, the 1/2" wide part with the teeth goes on the bottom with the coax, thread the nut (O ring down), tighten the nut firmly, but not too tight. There are steps on the bottom 1/2" wide part that will fit inside the 3/4" hole.
If I have to post a complete series of pics I will do so, later. An nmo mount is not an over complicated device, that is why they work so good.

First, are you sure you drilled a 3/4 inch hole? Second, after you shove the coax thru the hole, you might have to angle the piece that the coax is attached to get it into the hole. The brass nut isn't supposed to fit in the hole, it's to snug on top of the sheet metal.

none of the threaded parts, either the inner round part, or the screw-on brass ring, should have to go through the hole anyway. Only the 2 'teeth' on the bottom side of the hole. The rest of it stays above the hole.

NMO assembly

Right, but my problem is the brass nut that goes on top of the groove mount doesn't fit through the hole.

You have to feed the coax thru the hole. This trips up people trying to do an NMO install.
All the coax needs to go thru, from top to bottom, the 3/4" hole. After doing that you'll see how it goes together.
