NMO version of Diamond RH77CA?

As many of you know, the RH77CA is one hot little scanner antenna. I have used it many times on my BCT15X with a right-angle BNC and it pulls in things I didn’t even know were out there.


Does an NMO-mountable version of this antenna exist? Perhaps made stiffer also so it doesn’t flex in the wind while driving? It would be quite a mobile antenna!

Did you look at Diamond®Antenna? Google is your friend...

I did, but couldn't find anything listed as covering "2m/70cm + receive up to 900MHz" or similar. That's not to say it doesn't exist, just that I couldn't personally find it - which is why I started this thread, in the hopes that maybe somebody more knowledgeable than me might be able to point me in the right direction.

Have you ever had anything else to compare it to such as the Larsen tri-bander?

Not Larsen but Diamond and comet.. Neither were broad-banded enough for my choice. Your mileage may vary

Ya know what, I might as well give it a shot

Half the fun with scanning is the experimentation with antennas. It's not like these antennas cost a fortune so I might as well try one

If you're just using it for a scanner, there's always the Larsen L-NMO150/450/800. I've had one for a few years along with an RH77CA. I've never done a side-by-side comparison of them, but they both work well for distant stations.

Believe it or not, my Larsen tribander is collecting dust. I never thought much of it for mobile use. My DPD Productions 800MHz 5/8 wave over 5/8 wave runs circles around it on everything on top of 800 which it obviously excels at since it's designed for that.
