I would hesitate about putting the wire directly on the wood if you decide to use, say a fence, with this design. I've heard of cases where when the wood gets wet, it can couple (albeit poorly since wood is non-conductive when dry) with the wire and detune it. You could use some stand offs to keep that from happening.
There's a lot of possibilities here, and how you want to feed and tune this (it's not quite a real 'loop' per se) can be experimented with pretty easily...Mike
