The BCD396XT I just set up will stop on a digi TG, but doesn't have any audio, yet the BCD996XT right next to it produces audio. Anyone else experience this? Both are programmed using the same software, and same system.

Same antenna source??

No, both rubber duck antennas. There is RF saturation where I am. It's not a reception issue. The system as a whole comes in strong, and all analog TG's are full volume.

Actually for reception issues, what you call saturation (more like overloading) might well be a problem, but we're getting ahead of ourselves.

You didn't mention a thing about perhaps the most critical item - what system?

One thing that can cause this - certainly it's not possible to diagnose this yet - would be having a system that rebanded where the tables aren't correct or are missing. It's also possible that the system/site types aren't right. What software are you using? If you dump the contents of your 396XT into a file (the type is very much dependent on what software you are using), zip (compress) it up and attach it, folks can start diagnosing the issue.

Otherwise we're shooting blanks...

Another way to do the job is to carefully compare the settings on the 996XT and 396XT - they're very nearly identical scanners, so whatever is different should stand out like a sore thumb...Mike

I have a 996XT, a 396XT and a 396T. I've had the 996XT and 396T on the same Greene County system in Springfield, MO for a long time. I recently added the 396XT. All are programmed by the same software from Butel, all with the same file by downloading the system from RR. All three, including a 346XT are used throughout the metro area, and inside.

The problem only occurs on the new 396XT, and only with digital talkgroups. All radios see the system fine, and all three digi-capable radios stop on the digi talkgroup when it's being used. The only difference is there is no audio from the 396XT on the digital talkgroups. Audio is fine on the analog talkgroups.

The settings are all the same. The only difference, is obviously the firmware. This is not a reception issue, and certainly not overloading.

My question is more for anyone who has ever experienced something like this. I basically need to know if I need to go through the trouble of sending the radio back for exchange, or if this is a known issue with the 396XT

I do not have another digital scanner to compare too but I have noticed my radio setting on a TG and not receiving audio at times. Now you have me wondering. I'm on firmware 1.10.
It is also a 396xt
