No audio output durring channel transmission

Trunktracker hates me sdr sharp hates me and hdsdr

Zig drivers installed individually for each reciever while the other was unplugged

Both rtl-sdr dongles show good water fall through sdr# and hdsdr (even with both sessions going)where my actuall scanner shows to be a solid broadcast channel

gain has been turned up from "0" db i have really good static where no channel is broadcasting or has stopped broadcasting

how ever no matter what i do or change am not able to hear any audio on any "station" that is txing be it fm station (local radio) or the local weather repeater or what have you..

If the station stops tx i get static and no matter how far over 9000 i go the squelch does nothing in sdr# or trunk tracker

(dsd+ i cant even get audio to register in it at all how ever think thats a ppm issue)

Where do i start? With screen shots? What settings do you want screen shots of?

Do you have either Virtual Audio Cable or VB Cable installed? You might set output to one of those. You have done your Frequency Correction PPM right?

I have vb cable free) and set it as the default audio

I have spent 5 hours playing with sdr sharp how ever i have to have a good audio output to confirm that the signal i have set is actually my noaa weather channel and that im not just wasting time playing with ppm... Does no matter decoder mode, am, nfm,wfm, lsb,usb.... No clear audio so i gave up trying with noaa and tried fm station

So i set mode to wfm tune to strong fm signal. Off frequency i get static. I set on frequency all audio mutes i get no audio what so ever... So i am at a loss???

As for trunk tracker hard to setup when i cant tell if ppm is correct as i cant tell if my ppm correction is right

So i have a shift of -891 in sdr sharp with a bandwidth of 194000 with 0ppm of correction on fm for perfect audio on both dongles.. How do i translate this to trunktracker?

You shouldn't do PPM using WFM--it's too big. Do this preferrably with NFM but AM can work as well.

Do you have the volume slider maxed out in SDR#? If so, slide it down to 45 dB. Go to Windows Recording Devices and set VB Cable as the default recording device and then open it's properties. On the Listen tab, make sure to check the box to listen to this device and that is plays back thru default playback device. On Levels, crank to the max of 100. And on Advanced, set the output to 2 channel, 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality). Click APPLY then OK. Also on Playback tab, make sure your speakers or headphones (whatever you use) is set as the default device. And lastly, on the Communications tab, dot the circle in front of DO NOTHING then click APPLY then OK.

In SDR# under Audio, make sure the Input is the Microsoft Sound Mapper OR your MME speakers or MME headset is, the Output is really VB Cable (probably called MME CABLE Input), and make sure Unity Gain and Filter Audio are both UNCHECKED.

Set mode to NFM and click Configure in SDR#. Make sure Sample Rate is 1.024 MSPS and Mode is Quadrature sampling. If you are doing just FM stuff and hopefully have an outdoor antenna, uncheck the boxes and set slider to 20.7. Click close then click Play. Do you now have sound? Tune to closest NOAA broadcast if so and set PPM.

I finally figured it out and have sound now both nfm, and wfm, took for ever but got it yes i am running a power injected high gain tv antenna out side (have to realign the antenna (yagi)it for the location of the p25 signal as i have a very weak one across all control channels)

Figured out ppm alignment usning nfm and the local noaa

I have 63 on dongle 1 and -27 on dongle 2 is it normal for the audio to be out of phase and sound like a cd skipping when set in sdr#?

So what did you do to get sound? No the audio should not sound like a skipping CD. The only time I have heard it do that is when I tried installing SDR# on an old laptop. It didn't have enough resources for SDR# usage.

Expanded the viewable bandwidth sdr# was looking at.... Lol

Im running a quad i7 2.2 ghz with 4 or 8 gb of ram idr whats in it (not at home) but its more then enough to only run cpu up from 3% idle to 12% and memory up from 8% to 37% running win 7

Sdr# sounds like a skipping cd only after i adjust the ppm on center for frequency... When set at 0 ppm and way off center audio couldnt be any cleaner

On another thought the antenna has a power injector rg6? With f connectors on low Gain power setting enabled input gain to the dongles is rather high (im only able to get 1db of gain out of sdr#)

Prior to the noise floor overlaying the broadcast frequencies should i be looking at another power injector (preamp)? Or possibly supplying the power injector with less voltage

If i set the power injector to high. gain is uncontrolable and if i run with out the injector i dont have enough gain available in sdr#
