I don't have that unit. Did you use the chargeable batteries that came with the radio? I would try some regular double AA's see what happens. Than try buy some new AA's chargeable batteries.

I would definitely try what bravo14 recommends. that will tell you if the unit is not recognizing the batteries or if there is an issue with the batteries. If you try that and the AA batteries work. you can try charging the batteries and keep an eye out for excessive heat and see if you get the same message after about 2 hours of attempted charge. if they are not charging and the double AAs work, we can send out replacements for free if you are in warranty.

the radio recharges them when it is off.
so, they might be just fine.

When you plug in the 325, as long as batteries are correctly installed, it will prompt you whether to charge or not(radio off of course). When it says "No Batteries" it won't be able to charge what is inside, since you won't get the prompt to charge them. To determine if they are truly defective, I would pop them into an external charger and see what happens, since as wtp said, they might actually be fine. The batteries I received with mine were fairly dead but my 325 still detected them. I don't know how sensitive the circuitry is or anything, but there's a chance they're just too dead to be detected by the scanner.

Uniden doens't supply Ni-Cad batteries with the BCD325P2, they supply NiMH (Nickel-metal hydride) batteries.
