I just heard CHP El Cajon Disp, CHP El Cajon Disp (Resident) and CHP El Cajon Tac 1 (Resident) in the past 10 minutes. It appears the Dispatch and Dispatch (Resident) are patched, as they are both sending out the same radio traffic.

I don't recall what the TGID is, but I too heard the conversation about going to the range and shift times. I forget what the other radio traffic was on the other channels, but I was hearing them (although minimally) earlier when I was listening.

I haven't heard El Cajon CHP for several weeks, and I work 10 hours a night scanning them. I've had at least 3 occasions where I locked them in but never heard any traffic dispite the CHP CAD page updating the calls.

What is talkgroup 37888 then? The database lists it as CHP El Cajon.

Paul, the CHP El Cajon office's area of operation is covered by two different simulcast cells on the RCS (East and South). Because of the way the system was configured 10 years ago when CHP joined the system (before the East simulcast was built), their talk groups were split into two sets (East and South).

37888 is South Dispatch. 38880 is East Dispatch. CHP normally keeps them patched.
Hope this helps.

Newer scanners will automatically tune to the correct talk-group, but older scanners like my 796D must have the "dominant" talk-group programmed in to hear the calls.
