I’m not hearing anything at the present time even though I’m approximately 6 miles from UW Hospital. I watched 2 different choppers go back & forth from UW last night on a “flight radar” program on my phone.

Here’s my setup;
SDS100 w/Remtronix antenna

Conventional frequencies; 462.975, 463.175, 453.225 & 151.28 (MARC1, likely not utilized last night as the flights I followed were shuttles from other hospitals).

P25 setup; WISCOM Talkgroup 8044 found under SDS100 Database /Wisconsin/Dane/WISCOM/Medevac/UW Medflight – Madison. Appending this to my FL added maybe 115 statewide sites of which I avoided all but the 5-6 closest ones to cut down on scanning time. Location control is set to off. EMS diapatch & EMS talk services set to on.

My questions are
1 Am I doing something wrong?
2 Has Med Flight made the switch to WISCOM?
3 Can you help me?
Thanks in advance
Pete

Greetings....

I hear them using 453.2250 (DMR cc: 1 / TG 4) when I have been in Madison. I have heard them a few times on WISCOM, as well. I am guessing the MARC1/2 combo is probably used more for rural counties such as Grant, Green or Lafayette counties. I have been hearing somewhat distant MED traffic on 463.175 (PL 167.9) from my home in Milwaukee. This might be from Chicago area, however, as lake inversion/skips have been rather strong the last month or so.

The Remtronix antenna is ONLY good for 800MHz. It is worse than the factory antenna (which isn't that great) on UHF, and much worse on VHF. For the frequencies you listed, you should be using the Diamond RH77CA instead of the Remtronix.

I've been hearing them on WISCOM quite a bit lately. I'd have to look up the talkgroup buts it's whatever I got off this page.

Thanks for all the help. I didn't notice that one of the frequencies was DMR. I'll have to think about the upgrade as well as trying a different antenna.

I purchased and installed the DMR upgrade and shortly received some activity on 463.225 even with the 820S antenna. Thanks for the help!
