I am hoping there is a way around this and that I'm just missing something.

In the database section, I go to Vermont>Addison County>Downloads & Reports.

I choose "predefined downloads" and then either .csv or PDF.

There are no tones on these lists.

Where can I go to either locate an excel file or at least a master list that contains the tones?

Thanks you!

When I clicked on the "Downloads and Reports" tab, and then opened the .csv file, using Excel, the CTCSS/PL tones were listed in column G, the 7th column.

Hope this helps,

I should have been more specific

When I clicked on the "Downloads and Reports" tab, and then opened the .csv file, using Excel, the CTCSS/PL tones were listed in column G, the 7th column.

Hope this helps,

That csv list is a VERY SMALL portion on the freq's in this county. I just wonder why the large lists in PDF format don't list the tones and/or where to find them? I've wasted a LOT of time on the FCC site trying to figure it out as well.

Thanks for trying though!

PL/DPL tones have nothing to do with the FCC, they are chosen locally and are not required to be listed anywhere. The CSV file contains all of the identified frequencies in the RR database, along with PL/DPL tones if they have been identified by people monitoring those frequencies. The PDF files you are downloading contain all FCC licenses within a county, which is much different than the frequencies that have been specifically identified.

If you're looking for some sort of master list of every single frequency licensed and used in the county, along with PL/DPL tones, you're not going to find it anywhere. Certainly not on the FCC's site, as noted the FCC does not care about or catalog PL/DPL tones, they are only concerned with the frequencies that are licensed.

The only way to figure out what frequencies that are licensed are actually in use, and whether a PL/DPL tone is in use on those frequencies, is to actually monitor them with a scanner capable of decoding PL/DPL tones. I notice there are quite a few identified frequencies in that county that don't have a PL/DPL tone cataloged in the database, so maybe that would be a good place to start. Any PL/DPL tones you come across personally for them, you should submit to the database so you help out the next guy who comes along looking for them.

No Tones Listed

That's what I thought.
I can import a "table" from the FCC list, convert to .CSV and then add a column for the tone. When the scanner picks up a particular frequency and shows me the tone, make a note of it and edit the spreadsheet.
I'm using the PSR-800 so it's a no brainer.

Thanks for the feedback!

Exactly, the only way you're going to find the tones is to monitor the frequencies yourself by programming them in Squelch Search mode (I believe that's how the PSR-800 refers to Tone Search). You may even want to enable tone search for the frequencies that already have a tone listed in the database, just to verify them. I've noticed quite a few agencies changing PL/DPL tones after the narrowbanding process, for one reason or another. It wouldn't hurt to make sure they're still valid, especially if you're not hearing activity on a frequency you probably should be.

Remember to submit whatever you find and confirm to the database. :)
