No registration key!

Trying to upgrade my 996 from current 1.03.11 version, I downloaded the vup v2.0.0.3 & v1-04-12 but I did not get a esn checksum or a registration key on uniden my scanners page?

Did you generate / enter your ESN?

you can get to 1.04.12 WITHOUT a key just upload it.
Key is only needed for major upgrade V1 -> V2 etc

Once you update to V1.04.12 you ca go in your scanner
MENU -> SETTINGS -> SEE SCANNER INFO -> FIRMWARE VERSION

and all your info should be there

I enter my esn, then click "get v1 firmware and esn checksum", and I download the v1 update and bc vup and install it but I cannot do the upgrade because I am not getting a input registration key.

You don't need a registration key to do the V1 update. Only when you go from V1-->V2 or V3 (i.e. only when the major version number changes).
