Seems as if they've updated their prohibited items list. I had been checking this pretty often and up until now it hadn't specifically listed scanners. I may still go to spend time with my sons, but it won't be the same as before.

Saw that and was curious why. Started to message them and ask but I'm sure the social media manager(s) would likely just say that is the rules they were given. Doesn't make much sense other than I guess someone could conceal something else in a scanner casing. A few bad people ruin things for the honest/good majority.

The airshow last year at the old Millington Navy Base was cool with scanners, even had the listed as not prohibited.

I went to Whiteman AFB back quite a few years back and they were turning folks away but it wasn't posted. I actually had the printed page of what was & wasn't allowed but the security guy apparently thought he was God that morning.

We left and sat outside east the base on a side road. We had a great view of the aircraft since most flying was between my spot and the flight line. No crowds to fight, and we even went for a potty break & food during the intermission, came back to our spot with no issues. There was a man and his son that parked next to us that left for the same reason and we shared frequency info and talked about radios. Had a better time than had we got in the show.

They A-10 demo flight was almost directly above us. Heard all their radio traffic.

I am curious. Generally speaking, who calls the shots? In Temple, Texas, the air shows are held at the local airport. I looked and it shows that the city of Temple runs this airport, which I suspected.

However, I don't know if these shows are ever hosted at a private airport.

Truthfully, I don't know how anyone would hear radio traffic with all of the explosions, etc.

I suppose it is interesting scanning.

I'd just toss a small computer like a laptop or Pi in the trunk or whatever and feed that via a scanner to TeamSpeak to a cellphone. You can use ZeroTier one for the reverse proxy/VPN.

I use this now at home with Proscan and the VNC protocol to control the scanner that way. TeamSpeak, VNC and ZeroTier Android Apps exist...

Now that the Little Rock AFB Air Show has come and gone: Did they or did they not allow scanners? Sometimes the rules are relaxed (change) as the day goes on. Thoughts?

I didn't even try to take one in. They were pretty thorough at the security gate, made you take you folding chairs out of their bags. Pressure the food vendors liked that you couldn't bring in outside food or drink.

Thanks so much. Appreciate the reply.
