no squelch on pro 96

i just turned on my 96 i have no squelch i turn it up down nothing i reset the radio nothing is the squelch bad or is it a easy fix somthig iam missing it receives ok any ideas

I think I have seen this issue talked about on the boards before. Go to Radio Shack and get a can of contact cleaner and give a good shot of it into the squelch knob and see if you get any results. A dirty squelch potentiometer can cause that issue.

Squelch issues

Makre sure you are parked on a channel which does not have a CT/DC tone set. When you are on a channel which has a tone programmed, the squelch will not open until that tone/code is received.

If you're monitoring digital systems the squelch does nothing. This is normal.

yes i know what your talking about on trs and pl tones it does it on all even on conv no pl entered it just started this ive had this radio for 5 yrs i it does it even on search mode cb everything i dont get it got any ideas

So I'm assuming it's off?

If you have all your data backed up, try reinitializing the scanner (totally clearing it's memory), and reload all your data.
