I am interested in snow detection in my area and have a walkie talkie with NOAA weather stations, it sounds like an automated voice reading off temperatures and such.

Is there any advantages of listening for snow reports or is this not a good approach?

Any other tips to get the most of my walkie talkie's weather function would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks to ALL!

You mean spotter snow reports? Most radio reports from trained spotters would be over the amateur radio bands, either VHF (144 to 148 MHz) or UHF (430 to 450 MHz). Your TalkAbouts won't be able to tune those freqs but there very well could be spotters on FRS/GMRS (which you can listen to). It does let you hear about severe weather though.

Here's a great site about NOAA's Skywarn program to learn more about reporting via radio: NWS SKYWARN
