NOAA WX 162.375

Very weak tonight on 162.375 I copied NOAA never heard them
there before? Said Ithaca NY ...in Binghampton it was "WX..."
weak missed callsign ...why would they be on 162.375? do not
think it is a image? anybody copy them on there before 162.375?

It comes in as Ithaca/Finger Lakes region for me. Never heard them there before either, but I never checked. I normally hear Ithaca on WX6 (162.500), but strangely it's static for me tonight. I wonder if all this flooding has something to do with it.

Perhaps not VERY, but yes, strong and clear. I don't listen very often, but I like to play "how many WX can I get" every once in a while. So I'm not sure how long it's been like this.

It’s probably an image as that’s not an authorized NOAA frequency

If you hear this again, try 162.575, and see if you hear them there too. Many of the NOAA transmitters are quite old and it wouldn't surprise me if there is an internal issue causing the harmonic. The antennas they use are typically "162" cut antennas, broad enough for 162.4 - 162.55, so they would radiate other frequencies without an issue.

162.375 is silent today and Ch6 162.500 is back on strong here in central NY.

Newcastle WY NWR off frequency

Assigned to !62.475, the past several days it is actually transmitting on 162.375 MHz. With the incoming winter storm this may be nice to know! I have reported this via the NWR Outage page so hopefully they will get back on frequency soon.

I get a weak carrier on 162.400, but the main broadcast has apparently moved down to 162.375....some sort of pilot program? The other usual suspects seem to be in the right place. Still waiting for a call sign.

The Armstrong transmitters definitely are. That is also a very good guess.

I am in western Finger Lakes and all I am hearing on 162.375 is some occasional DMR. I probably am out of range for most of the eastern Finger Lakes stations. I normally can not hear the Ithaca 162.500 to know if it is active. I am hearing Hornell, Bath, Newark and Syracuse on their assigned frequencies.

Does anybody know who the 162.375 DMR could be? It is periodic 2-3 second data transmissions in SL1. Poor signal but occasionally also shows DCC4 data in SL2.

many a VA have gone DMR for non LE Ops, just a wag
And two VA's in NY are allocated that freq per the NTIA (Batavia and Buffalo)

Signal strength is consistent with Batavia.
