BC350A That worked fine up until 3 days ago when it started picking up the whine of engine noise, It worked great till it started this, Nothing has changed with the motor, It has noise suppresion plug wires already on it.
Is there a filter anyone has used to cut back on this ?
I checked all conections and even added a extra ground wire from the radio to a good ground with negative results.
Radio picks up fine with the ignition in the off position.
If someone has a idea pass it along, Its like this just happened overnight.

Has the filter gone bad? That might be possible then, I would try your factory antenna just to be sure it hasn't somehow grounded itself if you have it pass through a point on your vehicle where the wire may be stripped.

If you actually have a whine - (varies with engine speed) VS a popping noise,
changing the plug wires, ignition parts, etc. wont help.

Quite often an alternator whine is a poor ground somewhere,
or using the cigarette lighter as a power source sometimes
has whine. Can you could run a 12V + red wire directly to the
battery as a test?

There are also alternator whine suppressors if you can't get to the bottom of it.
I've bought them at car stereo shops.
Radio Shack might have them - I dunno.
If you're only going to power a scanner, you can buy a smaller (current-wise) one.

Just putting 'alternator whine' in Google will give you many self-help results.

Good luck.

If it ever drops below 900 degrees outside i will run a wire to the fuse panel and see if it clears the problem.
Thanks for the info

That might or might not fix the problem. The proper method is to run the positive and the ground lead to the battery posts and put an inline fuse at the battery end of the positive lead.
