Hello,

Have a SDR that covers vhf/uhf, but has no trunking capability.
Has AM, FM, and USB.

Not too sharp with this, and would appreciate any help.
Have looked at the excellent RR databases, but without too much luck for this.

Might anyone suggest any Mass. State Police, Boston Police, Boston & Middlesex Fire,
and just reasonably active utility stations for Boston and Middlesex, that are conventional and non-trunked ?

Live in Middlesex, 20 miles due West of Boston.

Just the old-fashioned "stuff".

BTW: are the local RR frequencies around Framingham likely to be Conventional ?

Much thanks,
Bob

Boston is all conventional. I'm almost certain you can pick Boston up from your location. Also all that area is conventional uhf. There maybe a few digital towns. But for the most part you should be good to go. I know haverhil is 100% encrypted. But other than that everything is analog. I also think framingham is digital.

You Police, Fire, EMS outside of Cambridge, Massport and the MSP [Boston has a trunk, but NOT for Police/Fire/EMS - all conventional, however do have access to the TRS, but not for routine dispatch] are ALL conventional.

Also Cambridge and Massport have full time UHF simulcasts.

Also if you don't have a lot of stuff in your radio already you may want to add the local MEMA repeater for your area. They also have a uhf repeater on 471.6875. Not sure what the dpl is???
