Things are getting rough in our area and my wife is paranoid enough as it is. Years ago i know the Albany/Doughtery County police went to a digital trunking system I think (back then) as far I know no scanner could pick them up. With things getting like they are now and in our neighborhood Im looking to see if anything is out there to scan and listen to Albany/Doughtery County Police now?

I know NOTHING about scanning and these systems out here so please help any way you can.

Albany/Doughtrey County has gone digital. You can go to the Database, Georgia, Doughtrey County page for the Digital System. A Digital Scanner such as the Pro 106 would be your best bet.

I vote for the 106 myself. My suggestion for programming the scanner is Win500 (30 day free trial). I'm sure that someone on here would be willing to build you a file for the scanner. Yes, your county is still analog, and you could get an analog trunktracker, but, there is always the possibility that they could go digital. Better safe than sorry:)

Sorry, I knew Thomas had gone digital, and I assumed that the whole system had also gone digital.

I am just going on what the database says, don't know the last time it was updated for there. I would go with the 106 as well.

If I am not mistaken a trunk-tracking scanner should do the trick. The only exception here is if it's encrypted; then you'll just get garbled nonsense and I don't know of anything that will decrypt it. Also, it would probably be illegal to decrypt encrypted traffic.

Get a Uniden BCD996XT and d/l FreeSCAN to program it. BCD996XT has the ability to use a GPS for mobile use.
