Noobie Question

Hi folks, This has probably been beaten to death before, but as a new guy, just bought a Radio Shack Pro-83 last week hoping to pick up police and fire in the Manitou Springs area, so far nuttin... Just a lot of static Is this scanner appropriate or do I need something else... Please be gentle, no flames please.

Nope, you'll need something along the lines of a PRO-96 or BC296D to get Manitou, along with much of the other El Paso/COS traffic that is digital. Look here for details:

Oh well, should have done a little more research, anyone want to buy a pro-83?
