These happen from time to time, and use a rather limited number of freqs (260.9, 139.7 (AM), sometimes a VHF marine channel too). Who would want to fly in this gawd-awful cold anyway, hi?
Probably for the same reason we always had manuevers with the Army at Fort Drum in upstate New York in the middle of the winter. LOL If you know what that reason, let us know, I could never figure it out.
