I believe it may be "Research & Investigations", but I'm not 100% sure. I think they have a patch in order or something because it sounded like they were dispatching over that TG the last few days.

As noted in another thread, the Norman system has been odd lately. Fire DC and Fire 1 patched, Police DC and Tac 1 (and possibly the group above) same, OUPD Dispatch and their Tac 1.

All very weird.

As for "R&I", I thought it was "Records" (and "something") where officers could run plates and licenses.

Why do you think they keep changing? To keep the "eneny" confused?!

No idea. Remember, too, that both PD and FD periodically disappear entirely from their "DC" channels with all traffic being moved to TGs in the 25000 range as has been noted here.

Like I said, no idea what's going on ... hey, but it keeps us occupied ... :)

Norman is now using some new identifiers for units. They have been calling on "sam" units and today I heard a "Paul" unit transporting 2 females to the women's shelter. The lady in Paul 12 sounded like one of the parking ticket ladies.

Since I used to be on the department years ago and still have lots of friends there I can easily answer that question. They have never been "true" to the absolute purpose of any talk group save for dispatch & detectives. Truth be told the detectives leave theirs off most of the time and just use cell phones....can't be listened to you know. Anyway, the original question was what the R&I stood for and I wanted to give the real answer.

BOOMER!
