For the past several weeks some VSP or Essex County Sheriff's units have been communicating with the "Derby" dispatcher (460.150 & 453.900) on the St Johnsbury frequency (460.300). Their transmissions were loud and clear. At first I thought due to a shortage of dispatchers that only one was handling the entire Orange, Caledonia, Essex and Orleans counties at those times. Then starting yesterday VSP St J (460.300) went digital. The VSP Derby 460.150 & 453.900 are being transmitted in analog and also simulcast on 460.300. I didn't catch if the 460.300 was in digital as it happened too fast. More info to come.

A bit of an update since yesterdays post. The Lyndonville Police Department and the Essex County Sheriff's Office which are dispatched by VSP ST J (460.300) have upgraded their radios and are now digital as well. Spoke with a member of one of those departments this morning. He advised VSP Derby (460.150) will move to digital next week. We'll see how the new system searches and connects to the tower on Ben Young Hill in Clarksville, NH which sould provide much better radio coverage in extremely rural northern Essex County, VT.

Nice to know about the new tower site as reception out here can be pretty bad. Thanks for the post though I saw Trevor at town meeting yesterday and forgot to try for some more info on this.

VSP Derby seems to have made a change this week. I'm hearing their communications on analog 460.375 (179.9) and 453.900. 460.150 has gone silent. 460.375 is loud and clear.
