QTH is the greater Boston area. don't want to come off as lazy/impatient, but even though i have the WRTH and the entire World Wide Web at my fingertips, i can't seem to find good programs to listen to. i use the sony 7600 as primary, G6 Aldrin on go and don't have too many problems pulling freqs in. but it seems though i get overwhelmed w/ World Harvest/religious broadcasts anytime i find something in English.

hoping that there may be suggestions for good programs (news, esp)/personal favorites in English that can be received in the NE day or night.

thanks in advance.

For secular programming, I like WBCQ, and if you're willing to sit through all the propaganda, Radio Habana Cuba has good programming as well.

You might want to check out a program called RadioExplorer, shareware but makes things very easy:

Radio Explorer - Listen to the World Around You

I think my favorite 'program' is the Radio Havana Cuba DX program. You'll have to Google times and frequencies though. I've heard some interesting programming on WBCQ where the announcer and the station engineer sat down and chatted about their transmitters, antennas, projects, and shortwave radio in general. You might check their web page to see what they have scheduled, they'll sell air time to anyone.

I like Radio Havana Cuba which does limited but repeating English programming in the evenings, Sunday evenings Arnie Coro does DXers Unlimited which is good, plus American ex-pat Ed Newman and Ava do pretty good English hosting.

BBC Africa programming in English is clear on 6005khz overnight 0400-0700 utc transmitting from Ascension Island, eastern North America gets the backside propogation.

West and Central Africa | Frequencies | BBC World Service

Late Sunday afternoons VOA is clear on 15580khz with an African music show I think is pretty good, hope I have the correct frequency for that one, I'll be tuning in towmorrow for it.

NHK Japan does good English stuff but not a lot of it and I'm not sure of the schedule, but it is from Sackville antenna which is close by and powerful.

I had been listening to China Radio International show "The Beijing Hour" evenings on 6020khz but I haven't heard it lately. I must say the programming on CRI seems inane and superficial, but you do hear some interesting stories about China.

That's my most frequent listening that I know when it is on.

I also try for WBCQ 7415khz which is there in the day but is often covered up by other stations in the evening for me.
