North Jersey Feds

Hello,

Anyone in the North Jersey area know any interesting federal freqs to listen on?

I'm in Bergen County and the only federal presence I'm aware of is Federal Reserve Police but thats probably pretty boring.

If anyone knows any interesting feds that would be appreciated.

I have a Pro 97 btw

From what I read looks like the feds are pretty quiet or encrypted.

Can't say I'm surprised but anyone ever hear anything good?

The FBI (Newark) channels are usually active. Though, they use encryption quite frequently.

Try listening to 169.975, FBI in Newark. They are sometimes scrambled, but also in the clear quite often.

Another good one is of course the NYC Coast Guard Station: 164.9125

Civil Air Patrol/Coast Guard Choppers: 122.900, 123.100

Everything else is pretty much scrambled.

168.975 - This tripped the close call on my 996 yesterday. I was in front of the Bridgewater Mall at the time. P25 Encrypted.

Looks like FBI Newark is in the process of switching over to P25 then. I did hear activity on the Newark Repeater the other day while driving to work on 287 and it was still analog.
