i was wondering if any of you had the tone out numbers for the North Tonawanda fd ? i can not find them anywhere and my scanner does not have a tone out search mode someone has to have them
At the very bottom is link to a PDF file Also see Guide to Using Audacity to Find Fire Tones which you want to download and follow. Everything you need to find/decode tones is free, you simply need to connect your BCT15 to your computer and record until North Tonawanda is toned out, then use Audacity to figure out the Hertz for each tone.
You can also try this program, if you want to sit in front of the computer while they get toned out and watch the display (and write quickly). This would be good for if you know they're going to have their tones sounded, like some dept's might do during a nightly or weekly test, or a weekly drill night, etc.
thank you the Audacity worked perfectly One other question can you have more than one frequency in standby mode or are you limited to only 1 frequency with 10 different spots for tones within the same frequency?
You can program 10 different tones on 10 different frequencies if you want, HOWEVER...you can only monitor on one frequency at a time. The scanner will not "scan" through different frequencies when in Tone-Out Standby mode. The frequency and modulation must match.
So for example, if you program 5 tones on 46.480 and 5 tones on 465.500, the scanner will only standby on one frequency at a time. It will check all 5 tones for that frequency, but it will not check the other 5 tones on the other frequency.
