Had I not heard the initial transmission that the events unfolding on RISCON North Wide 2 this afternoon were a "drill", I'd have been terribly concerned. Woonsocket fire is conducting very realistic exercise with multiple mayday firefighters (one fallen through the floor to the basement, another stuck in the floor) and various other fire situations.

They're on their second run-through of the same drill with similar challenges and issues. A little nerve-wracking - one of the participants is doing a very good job of showing his emotions as a stranded firefighter.

Well done, Woonsocket - I only wish they'd actually announce on frequency that it's a drill a few more times - anyone coming in late to the listening party might mistake this as being real!

I assume you mean NORTH ZONE 2. Those names were changed years ago. Much like wanting to hear "this is a drill" more often, posting with the correct channel names is just as important.

Interesting. I’m using the name of the talkgroup as listed here in the RadioReference database. I have no reason to doubt you when you say the channel may have been renamed, but most of us have no other points of reference for the names. Is there a list somewhere which might show the renamed channel, and maybe any others that have been renamed? (*I checked on snewiki.com and they too list “Northwide2” as the description for talkgroup 1174)

Someone with detailed knowledge of the name change(s) may wish to work with the database administrators to update the descriptors where applicable…. particularly if the changes were made several years ago.

I very much agree that consistency in discussions is important but in the absence of updated information, such consistency might be difficult to achieve.

The only way we can keep such consistency is if people submit to the DB. This may be partially my fault as well, as I thought @wa1lad had sent me the updated list but I could be wrong. Maybe you can email or PM me the list again, so I can get everything updated in both DBs.
Thanks.
