I did airband scan here near Rogersville, TN and found two frequencies that were not in the RR database. 128.050 and 132.800. I was able to find 128.050 on the Airnav page for Tri-Cities Airport, Johnson City as Atlanta ARTCC Approach. I haven't been able to identify 132.800, but it was quite active and I heard aircraft being told to contact the tower on 121.2 which is the tower at the Knoxville airport. I suspect it's an Atlanta ARTCC Approach frequency.

Maybe a KTYS Knoxville TRACON frequency;
I see Airnav has;
KMOR Moore-Murrell Airport in Morristown, Tennessee
KGKT Gatlinburg-Pigeon Forge Airport in Sevierville, Tennessee
with a Knoxville App/Dep frequency of 132.800

Yes any aircraft that is being handed off to tower is typically talking to approach rather than center. I don't recall ever being handed off directly from center to tower.

There are plenty of smaller airports that have towers without approach controls overlying them. In that case, the center will absolutely hand you off directly to the tower.

Quite true. I flew mainline and forgot about smaller airports. The memories are indeed fading.
