Hello,

In my travels in CT I found a couple of EDACS systems that etrunk says is SCAT. When I was at home a few weeks ago I picked up a number of SCAT sites. The control channel changes into what sounds like Aegis Digital.

Frequency Site ID (Hex)
451.2500 0005 SCAT
451.2750 0001 SCAT
451.3750 000B SCAT
451.4750 0009 SCAT
451.6750 0010 SCAT

Northeast Utilities is licensed for all the above frequencies in CT. The 451.2500 frequency is in the Northeast CT area.

Scanners for S.C.A.T.? Sure. Any E.D.A.C.S. Uniden Trunking capable scanner. As for R.D.I.? Well I do NOT even know what that would be.

Well I suppose that yuo could do it maunaully on a 92 but here is the problem. A SCAT frequency stays in Control Frequency mode until somebody keys up and then it changes to a Voice frequency. These trunked (SCAT) sites are set up to fill in areas with less usage then the rest of the main system will have. This is EDACS version of VOC. What is VOC, well it is Motorola's version of the same thing.
So if you want to listen to the Controller audio buzz on your scanner then sure why not program it in manually cause unless you have a uniden model; it will NOT work correctly.
Besdies, I just looked up RDI on the Internet using Google Search. Although I did NOT, as of yet, find out, what the letters RDI stand for; it seems that R.D.I. has something to do with G.P.S. or Global Positioning System. In other words it most likely is used for monitoring where vechiles are @ any given time. Unless you are a system user, you most likely will NOT be able to decode this data. This is probably most likely done for SAFETY reasons. If that is the case, then I can understand this.
I hope that this explanation helps. Sorry if the explanation is a little simple but maybe somebody else with more RADIO knowledge can join in.

Hello,

RDI is Radio Data Interface. At first I thought it was Provoice but I have seen information that this system is used for data. Likely it is used to collect information from remote sites around the state.
