Anyone have any idea what MDOT uses such as talk groups/towers. Haven't been picking up Otsego co. fd. ems or pd's using waters tower other than on analog any suggestions? Also Oscoda Co has been switching back an forth from 154.995 to mpscs last month or so. Seemed steady on mpscs for a month then back on their own system.

the local road commissions' plow snow near me so I don't hear any MDOT traffic normally. A handful of times I have heard crews plowing snow somewhere near traverse city and somewhere near mio/luzerne.

seems i must have something in the wrong mode I've done a trunking discovery on waters and gaylord 1 towers with no zero results. Lovells tower is only maybe 10 miles from me as a crow flys? I must have something in my bcd 435hp in the wrong mode? Any clues would be of big help. Thanks

I have a pro-106 and SDR's... so I cant help ya with your 435hp... With my rubber duckie antenna, I can get Grayling and sometimes St. Helen on the pro-106. I have higher gain roof antennas to get further sites. Maybe you want to focus on what you can get with the lovells site first? My scanner shows the decode rate if I hold it on the control channel...

Just haven't been totally sold on becoming a premium member to this site yet. To many "your wrong" from the so called experts here. Been a long time Analog scanner for 40 yrs so no i know my local freqs not someone from 100 miles away. But I'm wrong because DB says so.

I think that's the way it works statewide. I've heard that MDOT contracts all of the day-to-day maintenance (snow removal, patching, etc.) to the counties.

I know the Counties of Montmorency an Oscoda don't maintain M-32 or M33 or M-72 so there must be some TG in this area. have had a lot of hits on trunking discovery but unknown since i can't download talk groups few have showed as being Encrypted also?

MDOT has a garage in Kalkaska they plow all of the State Roads in Kalkaska County 131 to the Antrim County Line and down to Walton
Then 66 from M72 down to the County Line

M72 as far west as the GT County Line as far East as the Crawford County Line

The rest of Northern Michigan is contracted out to County Road Commissions to plow

Update your database, that's the same as downloading talkgroups. Then turn on the correct service type for MDot/PDW.

I just can't remember the name of the service types, it's been a while since I have used a Uniden.

That may be true in Counties on the west Coast but in smaller inland counties thats false! Otsego Co was/is doing parts of I75 but that has been the closest. I have Family that works with County Rd Coms in Montmorency an Oscoda Counties

Again I'll say Analog 154.265 showing up as Big Creek Twp Oscoda County is wrong, When it is Kalkaska Co dispatch. Part of Big Creek is Tri Township Fire other part is Luzerne fire dept. has been for 40 yrs.

Why can't it be both?
The Oscoda page shows it as big creek under WPKM374. The Kalkaska page shows it as fire dispatch under WPZJ884.
I just verified that 154.265 is valid on both licenses at the FCC...

If you are not adding TGs to a FL, then the only way it will work is enter your zip code, use full db, and the correct service type.

The db brings up everything on 154.265 as Big Creek never shows Kalkaska, 154.265 is like fire Ground for Big Creek not dispatch

Don't get caught up on an artifical label. You could change it to 'out house' and it's still 154.625 mhz.

For an analog signal, there is nothing the scanner can do to distinguish between Kalkaska or Big Creek. You have to decipher the context of the transmission and decide who is making the transmission.
