Anyone know where I might be able to find electronic parts maybe in the Loudoun or Winchester area? I called the RS store in Berryville (figured since they are not a true RS store, they might carry other items or know more) and I got "what's that?" when I asked if they carried Metal Oxide Varistors.

The exact part number is CNR10D821K and is listed here (but with a "-420":

MCM has some MOVs but not exact and the shipping is more than the part itself. Other places I found have a minimum order of $300.

Thanks. It occurred to me last night, I might be able to acquire an old computer power supply that would have an MOV close in specs.

MOV's are not that critical, as long as you get one with the right operating voltage spec and big enough to handle the current (Joules) You don't need the exact replacement one.

Mouser & Newark would be good bets; Mouser usually is cheaper and low or no minimum order.

thanks. I figured the specs didn't need to be exact but since it was on a battery charger I wanted to replace it and not just clip it out.

Electronic Parts

If you need parts locally try Cumberland Electronics in hagerstown, or I would agree with the other person on Mark's Electronics.

Marks carries alot of kit and or project parts, tools and other general supplies in stock off the shelf.

Cumberland has a decent inventory and can ship for next day type availablity.

Had good experiences with both either these or the RS stores in front royal and the one in Martinsburg Mall are the two general parts stores left in the area that stock more than a cell phone case.
