We rode Rt.211 west into Luray yesterday, alot of V.S.P. on the ride up & over Skyline Drive, had a few bikes pulled over. I guess they were out in force to show the bikers
to slow down & be safe. My butt is a lil tired, we did 215 miles, then had friends over
til 1 am.....lol

Be safe out there today, we are heading out for a lunch ride....

p.s. all the bikes pulled over were sport bikes....glad they don't pay attention to old
guys on Harley's.....

Armed robbery of an Exxon has become a hostage situation because the cops showed up before the suspect had a chance to leave. The suspect is armed with a gun. An off-duty Secret Service or Pentagon police officer is also on the scene.
Ops on are TG1616. The SERT has been activated and a negotiator requested.

This is the Exxon at Loudoun County Parkway and Westland Drive (Or maybe it's Westwind can't find Westland on a map but it is apparently next to the Greenway.)
Loudoun County Parkway is being shutdown at the Greenway and a command post will be established there.

1706- At this time, apparently there is one clerk inside. They will also be requesting that the FAA make a no-fly zone over the area. The scene is about one mile west of the Dulles 19 Right approach.

1726- Ops will be switching over to the "SERT-1" talkgroup 1840. It is encrypted.
1748-TG 1872 "SERT-2" is also active. There will not be much event radio traffic at this point that is not encrypted.

1917- Apparently the suspect speaks Russian, but has very little accent. There are two Russian translators on scene. Early witness reports were describing the suspect as Hispanic.

2005- Most of the event comms that aren't encrypted are on TG 1744 (Tac-2)

2010- The hostage has been secured. The SERT is inside with the suspect.
2015- Declared over. One shot and killed the guy.

Lots of brush fires today. Right now Loudoun and Clarke counties, and the Dept of Forestry are fighting one in the area of Retreat Rd between the Shenandoah River and the county line. They can't get any aerial support because it is already tied up with a fire in Frederick (County I believe). This fire is estimated to be 10-15 acres and only 10% contained. The strong winds definately aren't helping.

Ops are on Loudoun's 6D and 6E. I also added Forestry 159.33 to the rotation. I heard a forester report that he was heading to Orange Co for a brush fire.

The fill station is at Shenandoah Guns. Frederick Co dispatch reports Hemlock Lane to be the staging area.

1530- Frederick Co VA just dispatched Brush-18 and Attack-11 to assist with the fire. They were told to respond to 1214 Beechwood Lane (should be Drive)

1538- Jefferson Co is now reporting active fire in their area.
1555- Forestry is asking about the availibility of a helicopter (159.33).
1602- A helo will be sent to the CP at N 39 08.66 / W 77 51.43

1635- It will be a hour or so before the DOF helo can be on the scene, but Maryland's Trooper-3 is on the way to do an aerial survey.

1720- For the first time ever I have heard comms on Loudoun TG 2320, talking about the fire.

Just tuned into a house fire and they've gone to a defensive attack. Based on the units present it is in eastern Loudoun. Edit: Location is Buckeye Ct in Sterling just up the street from Co. 11. Ops are on 6C.

Not really Northern VA major incident, but it could be . . .
Private beechcraft aircraft coming from Ohio seems to be having issues - it isn't responding to Air Traffic Control or flares fired from other aircraft, and it appears that the pilot is incapassitated. It's currently heading toward VA, and the Virginia EOC has activated for it.

Heard on the Fairfax Police system, the PSCC supervisor was alerting Fairfax 1. Anyone have any info on this, or have any idea where I can get more info? I'm not even sure what ATC frequencies I should monitor for this event . . .

2301 - Fairfax 1 just reported that air traffic control has made contact with the pilot, and he is ok.

Attempted Burgocc (Burglary of an Occupied Dwelling) in Fairfax County

West Springfield - Channel 7

Not sure about the exact address - 8058 ??? court

All info through the language line, but what I've gathered so far is that 3 male subjects climbed onto someone's balcony, attempted to make entry, then were seen by the complatinant, and they ran off

Fairfax 1 is onscene, K9 is enroute, a spanish speaking officer is enroute, but is 5-10 minutes away

2323 - 2 bikes were stolen from the back yard. The only description we have so far is 3 males, 1 was wearing a gray jacket.

Outside fire in the area of Rt9 and Harper's Ferry Rd in western Loudoun. Ops on 6C.


Co 4 and 16 units are on scene. A 500 gallon propane tank 30ft from a house is on fire and venting. There is a sizeable brush fire too. The fire is spreading to the north and west.

0948- Water supply ops being started at 34544 Charles Town Pike (Rt9). Water supply ops on 6D.

Units rundown:
Engine, Tanker and Brush-16; Wagon-4, Brush-2, Tanker-2

Enroute:
Jefferson Tanker and Engine-5; Tanker-4, Engine-2, Wagon-5, Truck-1, Trauma-141, Brush-4, Chief-16, and Forestry-2.

0952- Command requests a tanker task force to be started. Route 9 is being closed north of Sagle Rd because of hoses crossing the road.

1000- Command requests three jeep-type brush units be dispatched to join Chief-16 who will have Division-1 command. They are hoping they can head it off at the Appalachian Trail.
1002- Brush-5 was dispatched to Box 16-2, 34971 Charles Town Pike. Jefferson Brush-1 and Frederick, MD Brush-5 were also requested.

1030- Frederick Engine-52 and Jefferson Forestry-19 (Div2) are in the mix and another engine has been requested at the draft site.

1035- The north and south flanks of the brush fire have been contained. Brush-1 has arrived and Brush-8 is almost on scene.

1045- The brush fire is 95% contained with some hot spots left. The propane tank is still burning but contained.

1051- Engine-12 has arrived at the draft site and this marks 1 hour for command.

1145- Propane tank fire is out and some units are being released.

Persuit with PIT on Channel 2/6

Persuit started on Rt 1, and officers PITted the vehicle on Mavis Ct @ Presidential Dr.
Vehicle is stolen, and the suspects are wanted for robbery and abduction.

All suspects are in custody. Rescue is enroute for 1 suspect who was tossed around during the PIT.

1419 - Suspect that is in need of rescue is unconcious, Fairfax 1 is going to be landing for a medevac at Washington Mill Elementary School (not positive on name). They have an officer heading there priority 1 to secure the LZ.

1422 - FX01 is landing now

1428 - I don't know the Fairfax procedures on PITs, but I believe that officers need permission before a PIT - something that I don't think they got, and now IA, and AIU (Internal Affairs and Accident Investigation Unit) are enroute, as well as the duty officer. Wouldn't wanna be that guy.

1441 - Fairfax 1 wasn't needed for the medevac after all, so they're in service.
When they marked up on channel 6, and asked the dispatcher if they were needed, he said, and I quote "no, I think you've done about enough for now". Guy reminds me of a dispatcher on the night shift who's usually working channel 2/6. Very sarcastic guy, but very funny.

A carjacked Cadillac was being tracked by Onstar in Alexandria. Ops on PMARS 866.3625.

At 2200 it turned into a foot pursuit. 500 block of E. Duncan in the alley. Requesting the Park PD helo to search the suspect(s ?)

2212- Arlington was the one doing coordination on PMARS. They've cleared PMARS and I'm out of the loop unless Alexandria continues to use PMARS or there is any action on the Park PD freqs.

1756 - Units are beginning ventilation, beginning salvage operation below fire apt, and still checking attic and other apartments for extension

2 - Dark jacket, no hood, dark medium length hair, clean shaven

2210 - K9 is starting a track

2223 - Fairfax 1 is clearing, sounds like they've got nothin, and will be releasing perimiter units shortly.

1707- CBS news just had live aerial video showing the roofs of two townhouses are completely gone. The fire has been extinguished.
