Northumberland County Fire

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone from the above location knows what happened to the fire channels for Port Hope, Haldimand Township, Grafton, Cobourg, and other surrounding areas? I'm only receiving Hamilton Township but no other fire channels.

I'm still using a Relm HS200, so I can only receive the fire channels. I've thought about moving to a new digital scanner but am hesitant because everyone is becoming encrypted!! Thoughts?

Very few if any local fire services are encrypted. EMS is not encrypted and currently OPP is not either.

I suggest a current bearcat or whistler unit as many fire depts are using TRBO. Check the database for your local info and go from there.

Thanks Gary. What is TRBO? There are so many terms I don't understand.

Cobourg and Cramaha have gone DMR, but all on the east end are still being dispatched on 153.515 and Brighton and Trent Hills still on their normal dispatch channels, for now, all dispatched by Peterborough.

At some point, in the next 3-5 years, all will be on DMR with dispatch/paging on 153.515.

cobourg are now on 149.4950 dmr. for brighton 170.2950 cramahe twp 152.6450 dmr, trent hills on155.6700

MotoTRBO is Motorola's flavour of DMR. It's a digital voice mode, not unlike P25.

Thanks guys! I figured the fire departments had gone digital Looks like I'm shopping for a new DMR scanner.

Or pick up a USB RTL dongle for 10 dollars online

(or a discriminator tap on an analog scanner with those frequencies and let your PC decode the DMR/TRBO that the scanner is sending to it)
