Does anyone know if the Northwest Central Dispatch P25 system is available on an online stream? I can't bring myself to spend 500.00 on an P25 Scanner. Thanks!

It's pretty easy if you want to provide one for ScanIllinois.net.

You'll need an audio cable to connect the earphone jack of your scanner to the Line In input of your computer's sound card and a cable modem or DSL connection to the net.

I'll provide you with some simple instructions on how to setup the encoder using a customized setup package (only takes a few minutes to setup).

That's up to you... unless others here in the RR.com forums have any recommendations. E-mail me at gordon@scanillinois.net for the setup instructions once you know what you want to scan.

Thanks!

As easy as signing up and downloading a small file and let it run in the background, along with having your scanner hooked up via a cable...

I am feeding at http://www.scanillinois.net they will accept other Illinois feeds. Costs you nothing and it archives audio for so many days even.

It would be pretty sweet to have those 3 banks and the Chicago Police Citywide channels, not the zones just the citywide ones. That will keep the feed active but not overly active to where it's hard to follow an incident.

I Would

I would do it, but I dont have a wirless nic card for my old ibm machine, anyone help me on that. NWCDS is not heard at my location, maybe with some height improvments and some help with installing a some roof top antennas it could be a go. ANyone got some free time to help with a roof top project in chicago land.

My friend would like to setup for McDonough County

We would like to add a feed for

Macomb Police, IL
Western University OPS, IL
Macomb Fire and their perspective dispatch agencies on that channel
McDonough County Sheriff

What do we need to do,

I myself can grab citywide 6, and some others in question as I live by chicago. Help us out with what we need to do.

If you would like to provide a feed for the ScanIllinois.net web site, send me the agencies that will be on your feed and I'll send you the instructions on how to set it up.

To provide a feed you'll need an audio cable to connect the earphone jack of your scanner (or other type of radio) to the Line In input of your computer. The instructions I'll send you will contain a link to a setup package created specifically for you which will install the Oddcast encoder and configure it for your feed.

The Oddcast encoder will record the audio from your sound card and send it to my server for others to listen to. You will not need to open any incoming ports on your router since no one will be connecting to your computer to hear your scanner.

Providing a feed will use very little of your Internet connection's upstream bandwidth (only 24k per second), so little that you won't notice.

As a feed provider you will have access to listener statistics and Google Analytics statistics for the web site as well receive credit for the feed on the home page.

If you're interested in providing a feed e-mail me at gordon@scanillinois.net

Thanks!
Gordon
