Another good frequency to monitor is 122.7500 Mhz AM which is the frequency aircraft use during multiple plane refueling. This is the UNICOM air to air frequency which I assume you know about. There are other frequencies they use; ARCP frequencies & EXIT frequencies. Also ATACC frequencies for your area.

I find it hard to believe The military drops down to VHF for air to air comms instead of their UHF freqs

Frequency listing for KC135 refueling tanker flyovers.
Here's the frequencies for the Fairchild AFB refueling tankers when they are over northwest montana.
These are for the 9/9A refueling track which extends into north central montana partway before they turn around and head back.
238.9000 mhz AM mode refueling Primary *
292.6000 mhz AM mode refueling Secondary *
295.4000 mhz AM mode refueling/Patch (phone patch ?) *
251.1000 mhz AM mode Refueling ARCP
269.4000 mhz AM mode Refueling East exit (over north central Montana)
317.6000 mhz AM mode Refueling West exit (over Northeast Washington)
Also have heard them on 119.2250 * and 122.7500 * and 335.5000 *
Have fun listening,
The frequencies marked with an ( * ) are the ones I can hear.
122.7500 Mhz am is the frequency used when multiple fighter jets are refueling. fighter air -air comms.
Fighters may use other VHF & UHF frequencies in other areas during refueling.

Since you're in Shelton, your best freq to monitor is the AR355 primary on 320.9

The AR355 track is just north of Seattle. Over the years I've heard quite a few ARs on this freq. Most of them were RC-135s going to and from the Orient. An occasional E-4 and C-17 will show up on this track.

I have caught tankers and fighters A-A on VHF.

On discrete that I've caught fighters on is 125.125
