Looks like January is when this is planned to take effect.

As a result it also appears this is changing some of the primary talk groups for local agencies dispatched through NComm. Please note that not all details are confirmed and are subject to change.

Key Changes:

5A DISP / 5B ADMIN / 5C 5D 5E 5F 5G 5H 5I 5J

Other Changes:
  • SDMARS becomes RCS ACCESS. INTSERV becomes CAR 5 and is Digital.
  • No Encryption in IMA, RMA, or Conventional MA zones (8M1, 8M2, 7M1, 7M2)
  • TRN is a Fire Training Zone intened to allow users to train on radio operations using digital audio. Talkgroups alternate Analog - Digital.
  • ADD: TRN P EMG
  • New CARS channels 1-4 (CARS A - CARS D) will revert to "CARS 1" - "CARS 4" at second rebanding touch

Do you happen to know if the TGIDs are likely to change, or just the naming convention?

I think these North Zone fire training channels got migrated to the new RCS NextGen P25 system from the original RCS SmartZone system when the Sheriff's office made the change to the ASTRO P25 core.

In reality I suspect these were deprecated long before, but looking at the fire fleetmap is it safe to assume these old talkgroups can be deleted?

1808710DNZT 1North Zone Tac 1 - TrainingFire-Tac
1809711DNZT 2North Zone Tac 2 - TrainingFire-Tac
5005DNZT 3North Zone Tac 3 - TrainingFire-Tac
7007DNZT 4North Zone Tac 4 - Training (Escondido)Fire-Tac

Edit: To echo @brendan3 's question above, does anybody know these RCS talkgroup IDs?

BLS RSV1 is missing TGID unknown
TRN P EMG is missing TGID unknown

These may be another case where an old talkgroup ID may still be in the database, but in reality that talkgroup was dropped for the RCS NextGen and then repurposed.

No those are still used specifically within the north zone. They are in the 2024 fleetmap.

I've definitely seen training in use, though I typically avoid it and haven't paid attention to which was being used or by whom

Awesome, I'll leave them alone then. Do you recall what zone/mode they are? I've seen the 2020 RCS Fire Fleetmap but didn't see them in Zone 15 TRN.
