I don't recall hearing of Norwood, Ky. There's Norwood, Oh over around I71, to the north of Cincinnati. Do you, maybe, mean Newport, Ky?

If you're looking for Newport, ky, it looks like they're dispatched through Campbell county. There are several freqs in the database (all vhf). It's been a while since I monitored Campbell co., so I can't remember which one was the main dispatch.

Norwood, oh appears to have channels on the Hamilton co trunked system and a uhf channel as well. It's been even longer since I've been over in that area, but that's what the database is showing.

Oh, I did a search, apparently there is a Norwood in Ky, but it's down by Louisville.

Jeff.

They only had a population of 396 in 2000. I doubt if they have their own fire department. They are probably covered by Louisville or another suburban department or on the Jefferson County channels.

154.29500 151.4 PL JeffCoFD MA Mutual Aid

I'm unaware of a Norwood here in Louisville or in any of the surrounding counites. Definitely ain't a part of MetroSafe.

Can you advise which county in Norhern Kentucky - Campbell/Boone/Kenton?

Well. . . kind of got it now:)

Local governments in Kentucky, especially the largest county, Jefferson are convoluted and confusing at best. But, for better or worse, seem to function about the same as others elsewhere.

Presuming this is the Norwood the OP has in mind, this appears to be a 6th class city in Jefferson County. Cities are assigned by statute to a class depedning on population.

A 6th class city is the smallest/fewest population. There are some 84 cities of all classes in Jefferson County.

Except for Louisville (a first class city) and Shively (third class) fire protection is provided by fire protection districts - there are 17 of these.

The Jefferson County Norwood is within the Lyndon Fire Protection District. Lyndon fire is part of the MetroSafe system and the frequencies noted previously apply. Their unit numbers are preceded by "16".

The VHF dispatch frequency is for tone and voice alerting of firefighters. After the call is dispatched, all other communications are done on the 800 trunked system. Louisville Emergency Communications Network: MetroSafe Trunking System, Multiple, Kentucky - Scanner Frequencies

The VHF mutual aid frequency would be used if firefighters from adjacent counties respond into Jefferson County for mutual aid purposes. These departments use VHF communications. In such case, a patch between the VHF and applicable talkgroup is created.

Sorry about the confusion, but like I said, things in Kentucky can be that way. Not too long ago, there used to be an Edgewood Fire Protection District in Jefferson County and a city of Edgewood up in Kenton County in Northern Kentucky.
