HP-2: Not getting a signal

Greetings,
I just purchased a HP2 a few weeks ago and I've been having problems getting a good signal. Today I decided to compare my HP1 and HP2 with the same data base and antennas. All setting are the same between the two. The HP1 receives far more channels and is much clearer. Now a few days ago I noticed that the connector on the HP2 (the stud you screw the antenna onto) was loose so I tightened it up. Is there a wire that could have come unconnected behind that which would cause my problems?

Yes. In fact it is VERY common for one of the wires on scanner BNC antennas to work loose due to bad solder joints or excessive on and off.
So yes, If you open it up you may well find a broken solder joint.
