Your 996P2 comes with firmware 1.06, you can see in the SETTINGS, See Scanner Info, Firmware Version.

Its for the 325P2, but it updates the exact way.
When this was made 1.08.01 wasn't available.

@tvengr I don't see that option, though it does show up in screenshots in the link @ka3jjz provided - maybe I need to change the system type?

If using FreeSCAN, System Type is Mot Type II/P25. Site Type is Mot Custom/Reband Type II. Enter the numbers from my post #9 into the first 2 lines of the System Band Plan.
