So hopefully this makes sense. My bcd436 doesn’t seem to pick up frequencies when it’s scanning except for one random firecom. I’m sure I have something turned on in the background but can’t figure it out. For example while listening to the blue Angeles it won’t pick up anything. But when I stopped on a channel I could hear it. Also I was scanning bank 6 and I have two departments showing (1 & 2) and it is only scanning 1. When I press 6.1 to turn that off it says nothing is to scan. Hopefully that makes sense. Or is it better to reset it and put a new favorite list? Or is there any success to reaching out to uniden customer support for questions?

If you still have your manual, look for the "Nothing to Scan" section. You can also look at this for some ideas: X36 "Nothing to Scan" Checklist

There are many little things that could be going on, so it's really hard to be specific. It's very likely something mentioned in the checklist will be the issue.

Even though you aren't always getting that "Nothing to Scan" message, the "issues" listed are potential reasons for the problem.

I suspect that you don't have the necessary service types enabled. Make sure you enable the Service Type for the channels you want to listen to. By default only EMS Dispatch, Fire Dispatch, Law Dispatch, Custom 1, and Multi-Dispatch are enabled. If you created your favorite list from the RR database, the Blue Angels are probably tagged as Military.

You have 2 issues. Nothing to scan and scanner not stopping on said channel but holding on said channel works and you hear transmissions. For the second, what’s your squelch set at? For the first, follow the link @ofd8001 posted.

Ok. Thank you. That may be the issue. I don’t get great reception at my house but I will try it. Don’t know how they all got turned off!
