I have a bcd996p2 scanner and have downloaded the database from RR for local South bend Indiana police. It comes up as 453.6500 talk group 47184. Well anyway for some reason it never detects anything. If I use my other scanner, a bcd536hp, it will detect calls with no problem. The bcd996p2... Nothing. Can't seem to figure out why. Everything else uploaded to the scanner seems to work fine. Anyone here have any idea what the problem could be. It is on the Indiana Hoosier safe T system. I believe a Motorola 2 system. Any help would be REALLY appreciated.

Check that the same frequencies are in the system for both scanners.

Check you don't have it assigned to a quick key that is turned off.

If you listen to that frequency on hold, do you get the motorboat sound of a control channel?

Make sure you have that talkgroup in the 996p2 and that it is not locked out.

If you don't have the talkgroup in the system for the 996p2 then make sure you are in search instead of scan.

Just a random list of things to try or check. The 996p2 should receive if all the same frequencies, talkgroups, etc are in and active.

Did you DL the sites, too? Did you assign a Quick Key and forget to enable it?

?

453.65 shows as a conventional channel and they don't have talkgroups
the talkgroup number shows on the states trunked system.
so which are you trying for ?
