It stays on as long as something is "active", including delay time (if any). Basically, it follows "unmuted or in delay time".

I have my backlight set to 'low' on my 1080 using delay time, it does not really impact battery life much at all.

Anyone know where and who to return you TRX-1 scanner my is not as good as my Old GRE 500
You would think the technology would have gotten better in the last 20 years but it has gotten worst
If someone could tell me where to unload this I would be most grateful.
I have contacted Whistler Wendy and Bryan to no results
It get nothing but static and shutoff if not plugged in most of the time I have re formatted the SD Card a number of times still as bad it will also drop calls in the middle of it

Your scanner receiver is very sensitive, when you open the squelch it can get overloaded and eat up batteries, the Alert LEDS can also cause some problems with voice received, The static you hear is on your Moto Type II system w Analog audio is where the static probably comes from, that's on the Input side of the System and nothing your scanner can do to remove it, its on the subscriber's radios also.

Specious post. One would expect that, if you'd legitimately purchased the radio, you'd know where and probably how to return it.
But then again, 3 minutes later you told another member you don't wish to ship it anywhere.
Why don't you just try ASKING for assistance?
PS- Your TRX-1 isn't as good as your PSR500? I missed the phase-2, DMR and NXDN updates for the PSR series- where do you download those from? I have several PSR radios and would be very interested- thanks!
I think they didn't update or program it correctly and just wanted to vent. I agree asking for help would have maybe a better option.

my TRX-2 does a fantastic job. Not sure why your TRX-1 is such a bad scanner but evidently you dislike it. To your point, you should be able to contact the store / seller you purchased your scanner from. No one returns scanners to the factory directly as far as I know.
If that's a challenge, you have other options such as selling on eBay. I don't know.

Thanks all I am not looking for a refund I just think after 20 Years from my last GRE- GRE 500 Technology should be some what better I will continue to try it get it sent in

It has the entire database in it. You can record,playback recordings It does DMR,NXDN and other types of radio What else do you want it to do? Seems like you like the old 500,why not get a refund if you dont like it???

I have a TRX-1 for about 8 months now it has been to Whistler Twice.
They claim they find problems and sent it back nothing changes still the same as when I first sent it in.
It is still under warranty so the last time I asked if they could please replace it.
That question fell on deaf ears.
My problem is this:
1. I get only about 80% of the calls on it because I have to turn the squalch all the way up, so it only picks up the very strong channels.
2. I get so much static I can not even listen at all. I have two sons that are Paramedics and would like to hear them whale at work.
3. I had a GRE500 for years worked great until it broke and won't charge. I throught the newer scanner would be much better, I thought the technology should be much better NOT!!
4. The first time I sent it in was because there was a big black hair inside on the screen as well as poor coverage.
Anyway very disappointed in this scanner as well as there customer service. I would think twice before I bought another Whistler Scanner.
Please give buying a Whistler a lot of thought!
