Hello,

It's my first post here. I've seen different threads and looked at the Wiki, but still can't identify why I'm getting NOTHING ENABLED! error message. I have programed the Pro 197 with channels 1-20 and in the software enabled the scan list for #1 for conventional frequencies. The scanner is uploading the material because I can see %s during the upload. Please any help would be great.

Thanks,

Have you tried to enable (turn on) scanlist 1 manually? It only takes a simple key press of the #1 button on the keypad to turn it on. I believe by checking scanlist 1, you're only assigning those frequencies to be in scanlist 1 and not enabling scanlist 1 to be scanned.

Oh man, I just saw a similar problem in the Uniden area-his crashed. .Thats why I do it manually. You are guaranteed to scan if you do it right.I dont mean to put salt in there, I prefer to do it manually cause I've been there-done that. Put the glasses on, program away.. Best of luck. I love the 197/106!!

I have a Pro 106 which is the handheld version of the 197. On the display you'll see two rows of numbers; 1-10 top row and below it 1-20 meaning 11, 12...19, 20. These are your 20 Scan Lists. You must enable a Scan List that has information in it. You say "scan list for #1 for conventional frequencies" therefore SL 1 (not 11 on second row) must be visible (enabled) in the display. Nothing enabled means you have no Scan Lists enabled.

"...programed the Pro 197 with channels 1-20..." sounds a bit confusing. With this scanner using the word "objects" is important, not channels. Have you programed 20 objects in Scan List 1 ?

...hope this helps...

Yes, I did press the scanlist button 1. Nothing still.

Okay, thanks I'm not up to date on all the correct terminology. Yes, the scan list 1-20 are flashing. In the Arc 500 all are checked under global settings.

Thanks for everyone's feed back thus far.

I don't have ARC500 so I'm sorry if I can't help as much, but I think there might be a tab or something in the program called "Scan Lists". From there, you should be able to assign whatever you have programmed to a scanlist (such as 1, 2, 3, etc). This should make it so you can enable objects to be scanned.

Thank you!

The 1 button is not flashing, but 2-20 are. I tried to take a pic of what I was writing about and it failed to upload. It's kind of difficult to relate what I'm saying. I'll go back and read more.

You can go ahead and just turn off 2-20 if you are not using it. You would only turn those on once you assign something to them. I use mine to mainly organize agencies I listen to so I can turn off PD if I want to listen to FD for the day or whatever. If you just have everything assigned to 1, then you really don't need the rest.

Thanks again Spitfire! I was setting this up as a favor for my cousin. He lives in the city and I live in the country/ rural area. I was setting it up under his county, Travis. When I set it up under my county it's now scanning.

Now I just need to figure out how to combine both counties into one, if possible or rename the second. Because I believe that every time I upload it erases the previous settings.
