This maybe the wrong place to post this.

I am trying to program a new BCD996P2 for fire and sheriff in Frederick County Maryland. I am using PROSCAN to manage the scanner.

I import data from the RR database and get information on fire and sheriff. Each item has a talk group associated with it. Upload that to the scanner. The scanner simply returns "nothing to scan."

What am I doing wrong?

Best Regards
Mike

Make sure you are importing the frequencies in the 2 sites.

I Was looking for fire and sheriff. I can get the simulcast into the scanner, and it works. My issue now is Finding the frequencies for Those guys.

Thanks Best Regards

Have you assigned group quick key numbers to your talk groups? Are the quick keys been turned on?
No, I have not assigned quick keys, and I guess they are not turned on. I will have to wade through the menus to figure that out.

Thanks

if the radio is scrolling "ID SCAN" then hit the function button and the scan button.
it will then show "ID SEARCH' and you should hear everything/everybody.

What do you mean by getting the simulcast into the scanner? A trunked system must have at least one site within range to receive talkgroups. If you are in Frederick City, you will need to use the Simulcast site. The frequencies in the site are shared by all of the agencies. There is no frequency for a particular agency on a trunked system. There are 4 control channel capable frequencies on the Simulcast site. You should see one of those frequencies on the 3rd line from the bottom on the scanner display when no talkgroup is being received. If you see NFM you are having problems decoding the control channel. That is a typical symptom of simulcast distortion. The control channel capable frequencies are in red. You only need to enter the control channel capable frequencies. All if the frequency info for the voice channels is carried on the control channel.

OK. IT scans, but like said NFM is displayed. Is there a fix?

Here is a Frederick County ProScan file for you to try. You will need just the FredCo. Simulcast site in Frederick. The FredCo Simulcast site is on system quick key 1. The FredCo Brunswick site is on system quick key 2. Pressing 1 on the scanner keypad will toggle the Simulcast site on and off. Pressing 2 will toggle the Brunswick site on and off. If you don't want the services talkgroups, turn off group quick keys 1 & 2. I have a group for Corrections available in case any talkgroups are added to the system in the future. The second attached file will answer all of your questions about using quick keys. Print it out and save it for your reference. Save the first attached file to your computer and extract. Open the extracted file with ProScan. Connect your computer and scanner with the programming cable. Click on Upload to Scanner. Erase any systems currently in the scanner before you start the upload. Quick keys as follows:

SYSTEM QUICK KEYS:
1. FredCo Simulcast (Site)
2. FredCo Brunswick (Site)
GROUP QUICK KEYS:
1. FredCityServices
2. FredCo Schools
2. FredCo Services
3. FredCo Interop
4. FredCo Emerg Ops
4. FredCo Fire/EMS
5. FredCo Fire Misc
6. FredCo EMS/Hosp
7. FredCo Correctns
8. FredCo Sheriff
9. FredCity Police
0. MD State Police
0. State Hwy Admin
