I am interested in listening to the security staff at Novant Brunswick Hospital. I believe they are using DMR, but the RR database for them was last updated in 2018. Is anyone listening to them and can give me some direction before I purchase a DMR license for my SDS100?

Why don't you put the frequency in your scanner in FM mode first, just to see if anything comes up. Did you click on the FCC license that might be listed, and see if the license is current or to see if what emissions are authorized? It's possible that they are not using the same frequency and could be using VIPER. I am not located anywhere near there. But I would enter the listed in FM mode and see if anything comes up first, before spending the money. Hope this helps

I checked their license and it is good until 2028. I programmed their frequency in my scanner. Will I hear anything if they are using DMR To verify I am within range?

You should hear some type of signal if a transmission happens. If it's DMR you just won't be able to understand it, but at this point, you just need to hear if they use the frequency and hear anything on the same frequency. If their license also shows a FM analog emission (along with the DMR), they might be using FM. I would especially listen towards the end of visiting hours for activity, or peak evening hours on a Friday or Saturday especially with Labor Day weekend coming up. The ER might be busier and security might be busier.
