It looks like you are in Collinsville??? You might??? be too far away to hear the 800MHz SLATER system. I would think you could hear it in Collinsville but you might ne on the border. If you can, try taking a drive closer to the city, maybe Granite City or near the Chain of Rocks Bridge. See if that helps.

Just trying o help.

Any help is appreciated. Yes, I am in Collinsville. i would think my Tram discone that is about 20 feet in the air would pick it up, since I get traffic from much farther, but usually on VHF. Next time we go to STL i will put the HPII in the car.

Maybe not. Too many factors to nail down a solution. My advice to people trying to monitor 7/800 is get it high and stick to a single band antenna. Even better, get a yagi for 7/800 and point it to ONE tower.

Here are your 3 "closest" SLATER towers. They are all "North" sites. Depending on where you are at in Collinsville, your closest "towers" are Jennings and Spanish lake which show about 15.5mi to the center of Collinsville. Put ONLY the north site control channels in.

I live 7.5mi as the crow flies from a SLATER site and can't pick it up very well.Screen Shot 2022-10-24 at 7.24.03 AM.png

single band antenna

That is a very clear explanation. Thank you.

So 800MHz doesn’t travel far?

Was considering getting on the roof AGAIN with arthritic knees and hips to swap the Tram 1410 for a Diamond D3000N and 50’ of Times Microwave LMR400 but now that sounds futile. Would have a better chance of picking it up if I moved my house closer.
